"Based on a traditional Irish song
of the same title, this exhibition is a
celebration of life’s passages and a
melancholic meditation on change,

artist statement     Simply put, my work is about life.  I am interested in the commonalities we go
through, exploring them through my chosen medium of metal.  I use the emotion and dramas of our
experiences to explore both the light and dark cycles of life: birth, death, union, separation, redemption,
and so on-- the good, the bad, and the beautiful.

Duality is ever present in my work, in visual structure and narrative.  At first glance, my pieces have an
aesthetic grace—a confidence of poise in form.  The strength of metal seems enduring, yet I as the creator
am always challenged and humbled by the process of making.  My inspirations are often from multiple
points as well—some of my works layer stories to give numerous interpretations to both myself and the
viewer.

My pieces are complete once I achieve a sense of balance despite complications or dualities.  Our creative
human drives make us seek out challenge (both good and bad) – it is something that I need in my life, and
is something that I can ultimately use for the positive.
